Whether studio MAZ, event player or mobile recorder, they all have one thing in common: tape drives are nowhere to be found. The enormous breadth of development and dynamics goes hand in hand with the variety of formats on the acquisition side and offers compact recorder units even for 4K productions. In addition to the multitude of low-cost "field recorders", which have been successfully compensating for the weaknesses of camera-recorder units for quite some time, several new solutions and players are now entering the market in the high-end and studio sector, or have long since established themselves.
However, it should not be forgotten that the media used (SD cards, SSD modules, professional discs and proprietary fixed storage units)

were not always "invented" for professional use and therefore the issue of data security must always be taken into account.
