With internal In / Out PCI cards, any workstation can be expanded with additional connections such as HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 4K SDI, HDMI or streaming output, XLR, RCA or audio jack.

And if the the computer is lacking space, one simply helps oneself to an external solution in the form of in / out boxes for live capturing and editing. These offer all necessary connections and partly also built-in codec support for formats like Apple ProRess 422, Avid DNxHD, XDCAM HD... To ensure the necessary transfer speed, Thunderbolt devices are now mainly preferred - or just the classic Express34 connection. Always the right solution with manufacturers like AJA, AVID, Blackmagic Design or Matrox.
