DSLR / DSLM cameras for professional photos and HD / 4K / 6K videos

Professional photographers often favor digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras over mirrorless system cameras (DSLM). However, the number of professionals using DSLM mirrorless cameras is on the rise. This is because in terms of image quality, these more compact system cameras do not have to hide from DSLR cameras thanks to their large image sensors. Both camera types are also suitable for recording professional videos in HD and 4K resolution. For filmmakers, however, mirrorless DSLM cameras offer a decisive advantage - better focusing during video recording. Phase autofocus is integrated on the sensor in mirrorless cameras. SLR cameras, on the other hand, have to do without phase AF for video recording and can only use the slower contrast autofocus.

Current devices in the mirrorless system camera (DSLM) class are the Panasonic Lumix GH5 II, the Sony Alpha 7 III and Alpha 7R IV or the Panasonic Lumix S1, S1 and S1H as well as the Canon EOS R with full-frame sensor. Among the DSLR cameras, the Canon EOS 5D IV with full-frame sensor or the Canon 7D Mark II with APS-C sensor are worth mentioning.
